What you should know about Jeremiah:
Jeremiah Johnson, 28, lives in Bristow, Oklahoma. He graduated with his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing in 2006 and now works in the aviation industry. He began fishing the banks of local ponds not long after he learned to walk and hold a rod. His love of fishing can be attributed to his mother and grandfather who both took him fishing often when he was a child. He began tournament fishing with his grandfather when he was twelve. From that moment on, he was hooked on the excitement of tournament fishing and soon began fishing numerous local trails. At 18, he began fishing larger tournament trails, such as the Ranger Boats trail, the Champion Boats trail, and the Wal-Mart BFL Tournament Trail. He also began fishing the Paralyzed Veterans’ Association Tournament in Oklahoma as a boater.
Jeremiah loves the competition and exhilaration of tournament fishing-the fog rising off the water as the early morning sun begins to rise, the bow and stern lights a-glow, the vroom of motors as take-off numbers are being called, the big catch, the weight of his fish being announced to an anticipatory crowd. Even with all the tournament excitement, Jeremiah’s biggest goal as a fisherman is to pass on his love of fishing to others. This March, Jeremiah caught a 14 pound 6 ounce Largemouth Bass at Lake Wetumka, which was a lake record and #4 on the state record list. When questioned about his stellar catch, he simply said, “I am donating her to Bass Pro shops, so hopefully a kid can look in the tank and get hooked on fishing.”
He has already succeeded in getting his wife, Brianne, hooked on fishing. She can often be seen as his partner in tournaments or enjoying a lazy evening on the lake. He hopes to have his 7-month-old son, Aiden, hooked soon, too. When he isn’t in a tournament, he can be found at numerous area lakes doing what he does best-finesse fishing, flipping and pitching at underwater structure and cover, and throwing a Carolina Rig.
